Starting a community from a template

Communities

A template is a community’s shape without its people: its categories, its channels and their settings, its roles and what each may do. No members, messages or files go with it.

Making one

Anyone who may manage the community opens Community settings › Community template and chooses Generate template. The code it shows is what you share; Copy code puts it on the clipboard.

A template is a snapshot. Changing the community afterwards does not change it until somebody chooses Sync template, and the code stays the same. Deleting the template, or generating it again, retires the old code.

Starting from one

In Create a community, choose Start from a template and paste the code. Before you create anything it says which community the template came from and what it holds.
