Bring a workspace’s history from a Slack export
2 October 2026
Choose the export’s ZIP file and Kemble reads it in your browser and shows its channels, people and messages before anything is written. Channels are made (or brought into one of the same name, like #general), people with an address are invited, and each channel’s history comes in with its original times, its threads, its pins and its reactions. Messages from people who are members here are theirs; the rest keep the name they had, marked as imported. Imported history is read, not news: nobody is notified.
Members of the workspace are put in the channels they were in. People invited by the import join their channels when the import is run again after they have joined; nothing already brought in is written twice. Direct messages are left out, and files are named where they were.
A new workspace’s owners and admins also see a short setup list on Today: invite your team, make channels, bring your history, give the workspace its icon, add your photo.
