Kemble Circle: a private category stays private
4 October 2026
Renaming, deleting, reordering or changing the permissions of a category needs you to be able to see it, and nobody can delete a category that holds a channel they cannot see. A private category’s name is sent only to people who see it or a channel in it. Deleting a category copies its permissions onto its channels first, so a private category’s channels stay private.
The member list beside a private or role-gated channel shows only the people who can see that channel, and a role or permission change shows in the sidebar without a reload. AutoMod’s alerts never quote a channel hidden from Everyone, an activity in a private room is announced only to people who can see the room, and a role denied View channels gets no mentions or notifications from the channels it cannot open.
