Jobs are written in the same transaction as the change that causes them, so a message cannot commit without its notification being queued. Workers claim a job with a lease; one that stops half way leaves the job to be picked up again rather than lost.

Today it carries scheduled messages, reminders, the missed-activity email, webhook retries and event reminders.
