Recordings with cameras and shared screens

A Link or a room can now be recorded with what it shows — cameras and shared screens — as well as its sound, or with sound only if you choose.

Recording a call now offers Record video and sound, the default, and Record sound only. A video recording shows what the call shows: a shared screen takes the stage with the people beside it, and otherwise everyone is in a grid, each with their name, with whoever is speaking ringed in green. A browser that cannot record the picture records sound only, and says so.

Everyone in the call is told whether a recording holds cameras and screens, including anybody who joins later, and turning your camera on or sharing your screen while one runs tells you it will be in it. A video recording plays in Kemble’s own video player, can be downloaded, and shows Saving… while it is put together after the call. Who may record, and who may delete a recording, are unchanged, and recordings made before stay sound only.
