Kemble Connect has a new switch, Direct messages with connected organizations. It is off until an owner or administrator turns it on, and both organizations must turn it on. Then Message on a partner’s card opens a conversation with them, when the two of you are members of a shared channel together. Where it can’t, the card says why. Guests and apps can’t start one.
The conversation sits in your direct messages, named for the other person with their organization beside their name. Only the two of you can read it. Each organization keeps its own person’s messages under its own retention, legal holds and exports, and neither organization’s rules touch the other person’s messages. Calls, lists and canvases are not available in these conversations, and a file needs both organizations to allow files in shared channels.
Owners and administrators see who is in such a conversation with whom, never what is said, and can end one. Ending one, or turning the switch off, closes it to new messages for both people and deletes nothing.
