Deleted accounts shown the same everywhere, and a calm note for missing files

Deleted accounts are shown the same way everywhere, a file that isn’t there any more gets a short plain note instead of a whole page, files left behind by an unfinished upload are cleared away by themselves, and every file you upload is kept in Backblaze B2.

Deleted accounts are shown the same way everywhere. In Kemble Work, the profile card of someone who deleted their account says “Deleted account. What they said stays where they said it.” with no presence, local time, Message or Link, only Close. Their face on messages in channels, threads and communities no longer wears a presence dot. They are left out of member lists, the member column beside a conversation and member counts in Work and Circle, and New message, New conversation, Add people, Forward, Share, adding people to a thread and @ in a group conversation no longer offer them. Manage members, member analytics and its download say “Deleted account”, and a deleted account can no longer be brought back, by an admin or by a directory sync. Deleting an account now also erases the answers to the workspace’s profile fields about that person.

A file that isn’t on kemble.io any more now gets a short, calm note in plain text instead of a whole web page. That covers pictures, fonts and the website’s own files, Kemble Desktop downloads, and the app’s sounds and stickers; a download that a newer version replaced says so and points you to the download page. The website no longer remembers a “not found” answer, so a file that arrives a moment later is found straight away.

Files left behind by an unfinished upload are cleared away by themselves. A file uploaded for a message that was never sent is removed after seven days, as long as nothing still uses it, such as a draft, a canvas, a share link or a list. When an upload fails part way, what it left in storage is removed automatically, and a file that is in use is never touched.

Where your files are kept: every file and picture you upload to Kemble, every call recording, and every picture on the Kemble website is kept in Backblaze B2, and nowhere else. Kemble’s servers refuse to start with any other file storage, so an upload can never end up anywhere else; pictures shown through kemble.io are only cached for a short time on the way to you.
